A structured summer program for students who are academically prepared and motivated to explore medicine at a deeper level.

Live online classes every Sunday. Exact class times will be determined in July.

Selective

Students apply after school nomination and submit a short personal statement.

Two Medical Sciences Courses

Students may apply for one course or the combined program. The combined program gives students a stronger medical school preview by linking anatomy with the chemistry of life.

Course I

Foundations of Medical Biochemistry

An introduction to the molecular basis of human health and disease.

  • Systemic buffer systems
  • Acidosis and alkalosis
  • Amino acids and biogenic amines
  • Primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary protein structures
  • Globular proteins: hemoglobin, plasma proteins, acute phase proteins
  • Fibrillar proteins: collagen and connective tissue proteins
  • Membrane proteins and membrane anchoring
  • Post-translational modifications
  • Protein folding and degradation
  • Conformational diseases and clinical relevance
Learning outcome: Students will understand how biochemical principles support physiology, disease, and modern medicine.

Introduction to Medical Anatomy: Osteology & Arthrology

A medical-school-style introduction to the skeletal system and joints.

  • Bone structure and classification
  • True vertebrae: structure and general characteristics
  • False and atypical vertebrae
  • Vertebral column and spinal curvatures
  • Ribs and sternum
  • Shoulder girdle
  • Free upper limb skeleton and bones of the hand
  • Pelvic girdle
  • Free lower limb skeleton and bones of the foot
  • Talus, calcaneus, and introduction to major joints
Learning outcome: Students will develop anatomical vocabulary, spatial reasoning, and clinical awareness used in medical education.

Orientation and Medical School Expectations
Introduction to anatomy, biochemistry, scientific reasoning, and how medical students study.
Week 2
Buffers and General Bone Structure
Systemic buffer systems, acid-base thinking, bone classification, and anatomical terminology.
Week 3
Amino Acids and Vertebrae
Amino acid properties, biogenic amines, true vertebrae, false vertebrae, and atypical vertebrae.
Week 4
Protein Structure and Vertebral Column
Protein structure levels, spinal curvatures, vertebral column features, and clinical correlations.
Week 5
Hemoglobin, Plasma Proteins, and Thoracic Cage
Globular proteins, acute phase proteins, ribs, sternum, and respiratory anatomy connections.
Week 6
Collagen, Connective Tissue, and Upper Limb
Fibrillar proteins, collagen, shoulder girdle, free upper limb skeleton, and bones of the hand.
Week 7
Membrane Proteins and Pelvic Girdle
Membrane anchoring, protein function in membranes, pelvic girdle anatomy, and applied anatomy.
Week 8
Post-Translational Modification and Lower Limb
Protein modification, protein function, free lower limb skeleton, and clinical movement concepts.
Week 9
Protein Folding, Disease, Foot and Ankle
Protein folding, degradation, conformational diseases, bones of the foot, talus, and calcaneus.
Week 10
Integrated Clinical Cases and Final Review
Biochemistry-anatomy integration, medical case discussion, reflection, and certificate completion.

How selective is the program?

Students are nominated by schools and complete an application. Final participants are selected based on academic preparation, motivation, and commitment.

What technology is required?

Students need a stable internet connection, a laptop or tablet, access to video conferencing software, and a notebook or digital note-taking system.

Will students receive a certificate?

Students who attend sessions, participate actively, and complete program expectations will receive a Certificate of Completion.
